Thanksgiving! {No...not Christmas Yet, though the countdown has begun}

I love Thanksgiving. Yes I know I say I love each holiday, but there is something special about it. Probably because it is right before Christmas {my favorite holiday}. It is so short, but I love it, and this year I wanted to get some decorations up that coincided with it. It gave me an excuse to keep up my fall decor that didn't have any Halloween stuff attached to it. {Like my lovely cream pumpkins}.
Every year I usually blog about things that I am thankful for from Nov 1- Thanksgiving Day. This year I wanted to do something different. And came up with this.
It is a combination of several online inspirations:-)

{GRATEFUL}
Making this {GRATEFUL} sign caused me to reflect on all the things our little family is grateful for. I absolutely encourage ALL who read this to make one:-) If you are not into crafty stuff, just fill up your journal with a few pages of things you are Grateful for in your life.
This was a heartwarming experience for me to do, and I LoVe the Value of what this little picture frame represents in our life!
OK... I found myself a TURKEY! Yup, when I told my husband about my awesome find, he just rolled his eyes at me:-) lol! I  fell in love with the PB White ceramic turkey, but 129 $ is just a little over my budget! lol. So on the hunt I went to find a turkey figurine that I could paint white or something {to look similar to the PB one}. This silver beauty cost me $20, but now I dont know if I should paint her or not?
Hmmm... any suggestions?
I am torn.
 This picture frame used to be black. I spray painted it Heirloom White, and than distressed it.
LOVE!
Next to get the background for this picture I actually just used the cardboard backing that came with it! It already had a rustic, natural feel to it, and even had lines I could use to stay on track with  my writing. Now as for the writing, I do not have the pretties handwriting around. BUT, when you write to fill up a whole page like this, it becomes ART and as a whole looks awesome! Trust me, I have used this method MANY times in other art projects I have done, and it WORKS with even normal "non fancy" letters.

Now, for the bottom of the display I used old sheet music, REAL Fall leaves {I use them every year. Just tell your kids to go find you some...its SO fun for them}, and some antique lace/doilies.
LOVE
 More sheet music and old books
 I always try to incorporate natural elements. here are some "pokey thingies";-)
Some kind of thistles?
If someone knows the names of these...please feel free to comment:-)
 Some more antique books. "Beside the Bonnie Briar Bush" This one is from 1900 ;-)

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Let the Countdown begin {24 or so days until my Christmas Tree goes up}!
Until than I will enjoy this little "spread" as long as it lasts:-)

My version of a "Boo Queen"

So last year I finally came around to decorating my home for Halloween. And Oh how I love it! I think the whole Vintage Halloween took me in like so many others:-) That is why I actually like it now:-) Its Classic. Its even kind of Mystical & Magical.lol
And so I fell in love with Bethany Lowes Halloween creations. I came across her pieces once {over a year ago} in a small boutique in Midway Utah. SOOO darling! I have a few of my favorites, and I oh so wanted them in my home, but there is no way I could possibly afford or justify buying a $75 doll!  I knew instantly that I wanted to make my own version of them. So with that said, here is my first of 3 creations that I want to recreate for my own Halloween decor:-)  Finally a year later I got to this project. I have to admit it kind of intimidated me, hence why it took me so long to do. But I actually was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this, and how easy it was! Mind you this was made with things I had laying around my home..so it cost me 2-3 hours & $0 to make! :-)

My inspiration:

Bethany Lowes Boo Queen
{kim kohler is part of her design team. She makes some pretty creepy stuff, this one being the less of the creepy ones}

{MY BOO QUEEN}

I made my own pattern. Sewed than stuffed the body. Added some clothes {with the glue gun}. Finished her off with a trick or treat scepter and than a boo crown.

I decided to keep her all black and white, to go with the theme of my decor.
My Halloween colors are black and white, with a dash of orange.

She does need some black glitter though...I went hunting for that this morning, with no luck. Think I will have to hit up Michael's later this week.

So there you have it, my first of 3 ! Stay tuned for my next creation {Simply Miss Pumpkin}.
Oh and a funny story, my little 18 month old boy, who only can say perhaps 2 words thinks this doll is gross. I know this, because he makes a "yukchhh" noise every time he sees it! {the same noise he makes when he spits something out of his mouth he doesn't like},lol!!! My little 4 year old daughter thinks it is a pretty Halloween Queen.:) lol! Well at least I know she is "pretty-creepy"!
hahahahahaha!
I seriously cannot stop laughing every time my boy makes that sound!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

A Harvest Wreath

I dont have a Fall wreath that can stand the Elements. So I made this one:-)
Mostly from things I had lying around the house.
{p.s. dont mind my beautiful door...we are not home owners, so our current living status is a "manager on site" place....yup...hence the "Private" door}.
I hate it....oh well....our time for Homeownership WILL come:-)

Thanks for stopping by!

Fall Banner {Happy to welcome this season}!

I love Autumn!!
 Only thing is that most of my decor is Halloween inspired, so I am working on adding more "Fall" things to my collection. The house looks so bare in between Halloween and Christmas, so I will be working on a few projects that can stay up thru all of Fall.
And to start it all out, is my home made Fall banner.
So easy...so simple....
Burlap, Jute and a black marker....
Here it is.

A little Witch silhouette peeking behind the banner...

This little guy is one of my FAVORITE Halloween decorations from last year...
....Love me some White Pumpkins!
HAPPY FALL...AND HALLOWEEN!
