Thanksgiving! {No...not Christmas Yet, though the countdown has begun}

I love Thanksgiving. Yes I know I say I love each holiday, but there is something special about it. Probably because it is right before Christmas {my favorite holiday}. It is so short, but I love it, and this year I wanted to get some decorations up that coincided with it. It gave me an excuse to keep up my fall decor that didn't have any Halloween stuff attached to it. {Like my lovely cream pumpkins}.

Every year I usually blog about things that I am thankful for from Nov 1- Thanksgiving Day. This year I wanted to do something different. And came up with this. 

It is a combination of several online inspirations:-)

{GRATEFUL}

Making this {GRATEFUL} sign caused me to reflect on all the things our little family is grateful for. I absolutely encourage ALL who read this to make one:-) If you are not into crafty stuff, just fill up your journal with a few pages of things you are Grateful for in your life. 

This was a heartwarming experience for me to do, and I LoVe the Value of what this little picture frame represents in our life! 

OK... I found myself a TURKEY! Yup, when I told my husband about my awesome find, he just rolled his eyes at me:-) lol! I  fell in love with the PB White ceramic turkey, but 129 $ is just a little over my budget! lol. So on the hunt I went to find a turkey figurine that I could paint white or something {to look similar to the PB one}. This silver beauty cost me $20, but now I dont know if I should paint her or not? 

Hmmm... any suggestions?

I am torn.

 This picture frame used to be black. I spray painted it Heirloom White, and than distressed it.

Next to get the background for this picture I actually just used the cardboard backing that came with it! It already had a rustic, natural feel to it, and even had lines I could use to stay on track with  my writing. Now as for the writing, I do not have the pretties handwriting around. BUT, when you write to fill up a whole page like this, it becomes ART and as a whole looks awesome! Trust me, I have used this method MANY times in other art projects I have done, and it WORKS with even normal "non fancy" letters.  

Now, for the bottom of the display I used old sheet music, REAL Fall leaves {I use them every year. Just tell your kids to go find you some...its SO fun for them}, and some antique lace/doilies.

A Harvest Wreath

I dont have a Fall wreath that can stand the Elements. So I made this one:-) 

Mostly from things I had lying around the house. 

{p.s. dont mind my beautiful door...we are not home owners, so our current living status is a "manager on site" place....yup...hence the "Private" door}. 

I hate it....oh well....our time for Homeownership WILL come:-)

Fall Banner {Happy to welcome this season}!

I love Autumn!! 

 Only thing is that most of my decor is Halloween inspired, so I am working on adding more "Fall" things to my collection. The house looks so bare in between Halloween and Christmas, so I will be working on a few projects that can stay up thru all of Fall.

And to start it all out, is my home made Fall banner. 

So easy...so simple....

HAPPY FALL...AND HALLOWEEN!

FALL is in the AIR {my favorite season is here, and oh how I love Studio 5}

Fall! Ahhhh! Yes that is what I think of when this time rolls around every year. I just love the crisp days, with bright sunny skies, or windy rainy ,cloudy, days. And oh how the changing of the leaves makes me oh so happy! The fact that this season brings on ALL of my favorite holidays, makes it even better!

So, in celebration of that I have begun to decorate my little home with fall/harvest time inspiration. I am waiting another week or two to start with my Halloween decor, {which by the way I am super excited to do}! lol. 

I started with this little box. I got the idea from one of my favorite TV morning shows Studio5 {which by the way I was actually featured on a few weeks ago! Made my year!}. 

Here is the segment that inspired me if u want to check it out. Michele V. has definitely made an impact on a  ton of my decor inspirations!

So after seeing her CUTE little IKEA box, I thought I might make one myself or something. Than THIS came to mind; my Great Grandmothers FAFF Sewing Machine drawer! My Father gave me this sewing machine many years ago. We brought it from Denmark. It used to be my Great Grandmothers. It is a German sewing machine from 1920. I have always loved it {It was the first sewing machine I learned how to sew on when I was like 9 or so}. No electricity, just a foot pedal to work it:-) I still have it away in storage, because I dont have any room for it at the moment. But this box certainly can be put to good use in the meantime! 

 I placed 3 small Mason Jars with water in it, cut a few blooms from the garden, than added gift filling for the inside like Michele V did on hers.

 I LOVE this drawer handle!

Than to finish it off I added some fabric for some umph!

I simply lOVE it!

Next I took MV's advice and decorated with Natural Elements. One of my favorite things I always do every fall.

And we LOVE Pears!

 This Lovely was given to me by my sweet mother-in-law. I added some new plates to it, and now I have a cute little stand!

It works really well in my house to decorate with real fruit. The only bad thing about it, is that my kiddies {including my hubby} LOVE fruit so much that within 2 days my decoration needs "replenishing" :-) lol! Oh well, it could be worse...at least they DO EAT fruit! 

Simple Fall Decor~ Very simple

The other day I took my babies out for a "Nature" outing. I wanted to check out a new photo shoot location, a nearby park. We started gathering all the bright colored leaves and a few pinecones and took them home. Pulled out an old Harvest Figurine that I had,  added a few nuts to the ensemble and now, presto, we have our fall decor! All natural...all FREE! lol! And kind of Pottery Barnish'. So there you have it, a fall decor idea! So easy, so fun!
